Autophagy and cellular quality control
Autophagy is a group of cellular recycling pathways. Chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA) is selective: chaperones recognize compatible protein motifs and guide substrates to LAMP-2A at the lysosomal membrane. Reviews and laboratory studies connect CMA with proteostasis and stress adaptation. Work in cells and long-lived mouse models is biologically informative, but it does not establish that a peptide intervention extends human life. This page therefore describes mechanism and evidence level, not a treatment or longevity protocol.
