Overview
O KPV é um tripeptídeo derivado da porção C-terminal do hormônio alfa-melanócito estimulante (α-MSH). É composto por apenas três aminoácidos — Lisina (K), Prolina (P) e Valina (V). Apesar de sua estrutura simples, o KPV retém a atividade anti-inflamatória potente do α-MSH, com a vantagem de não afetar a pigmentação da pele (diferente de outros derivados da melanocortina como o Melanotan II). Inibição do NF-κB — anti-inflamatório potente SEM ser imunossupressor Original in PT-BR
O KPV atua primariamente pela inibição da translocação nuclear do NF-κB (fator nuclear kappa B), o principal regulador transcricional de citocinas pró-inflamatórias (PMID: 10940882). Ao bloquear NF-κB, o KPV reduz a produção de TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 e outras citocinas sem suprimir a função imune adaptativa. Isso o torna fundamentalmente diferente de imunossupressores como o golimumabe (anti-TNF) ou corticosteroides. Em modelos de doença inflamatória intestinal (DII), demonstrou capacidade de reduzir inflamação colônica e promover reparo da barreira intestinal (PMID: 25866924).
